“Barbie can be anything!”
Just like Barbie, Batch 2029 experienced a world of opportunities at this year’s Elective Fair, Barbie’s World: Where Dreams Come True, held on February 3, 2025 in the Mere Maria Hall (MMH) and Grade School PE Area. With various speakers who shared their knowledge about what each elective had to offer, students had the chance to discover new interests, reveal hidden talents, and begin to carve out their futures.
With the vibrant variety of electives, the event was a treasure trove of options. Whether you envision yourself in a lab coat like Doctor Barbie, leading a major campaign like PR Barbie, or creating amazing visuals like Photographer Barbie, there was an elective for every aspiring star — because when it comes to careers, Barbie, along with Batch 29, understands that there’s no limit to your dreams!
A lab coat, a stethoscope, and a will to save lives — our Medical Science Barbie, Pat Agustin, and student speaker, Ava Padilla, shared their journeys into the world of medicine. They reflected on how their science classes weren’t just about memorizing facts but about discovering what truly fascinated them. Their experiences reminded students that the choices they make today can lead to incredible opportunities down the road.
Moirah Dionglay and student speaker Yuna Artillero brought Business Barbie to life as they shared how their journey into Business Analytics and Administration started. Lessons on market trends, data analysis, and leadership weren’t just theories, but they became the building blocks of their passion for business. Their experiences inspired students to embrace the possibilities that come with business education, proving that with the right mindset, anyone can be a boss.
Bibby Borja, our Public Relations and Events Management Barbie, and student speaker Julianna Ignacio, shared how her experiences in the field sparked passion for creating meaningful connections and unforgettable events. Bibby emphasizes that success in this field is all about creativity, attention to detail, and building relationships, showing how exploring these areas can lead to exciting career opportunities.
With a camera in hand and a vision to share, Jolie Lim, our Visual Storytelling and Content Creation Barbie, and Brooke Sanchez walked us through a journey of crafting impactful digital stories. The art of visual storytelling, from photography to video production, became the spark for a passion in content creation. The talk highlighted the importance of creativity, technology, and personal expression in this field, showing how exploring these areas can open doors to exciting opportunities in the digital world.
In the world of Multimedia Arts, Anica Goco, our Multimedia Barbie, and student speaker Sabina Pernia, shared how diving into video production and working with production teams led to exciting new experiences and creative growth. They touched on how collaborating on various projects opened doors to fresh perspectives and honed valuable skills, essential to shaping a path to success. Furthermore, they discussed how exploring multimedia arts can unlock endless creative possibilities and essential skills for future success.
Our last Barbie, Bianca Catane, and student speaker, Marian Santos, showcased the art of Journalism and Social Communication. Their discussion explored the evolving media landscape, highlighting the growing impact of AI and misinformation had in news production and content creation. By embracing the principles of journalism, they showed how the future of media can remain truthful, reliable, and impactful in a changing world. Emphasis was also placed on how experience in journalism opened doors to opportunities in all fields of work, regardless of field.
Once all the speakers wrapped up their presentations, the Rookies eagerly explored the different booths, all organized by the Grade 10 students at the Grade School PE Area, showcasing each unique elective. Each booth was designed to be both engaging and informative, featuring interactive activities like acting out real-world scenarios, guessing games, and hands-on challenges, all pertaining to the skills and experiences offered in each elective. With every game played and every lesson experienced, students got a taste of what their future could hold, realizing that, just like Barbie, they could take on any dream with confidence and creativity.
“Beyond just showcasing the offered courses, the event aimed to empower students to make informed decisions about their academic journey. Just like Barbie, who has stepped into countless roles and occupations, we wanted the Rookies to see that they too have the power to shape their own paths. By the end of the event, I can definitely say that they walked away not just with new-found knowledge but with the confidence and excitement to take on their future, knowing that, like Barbie, they can be anything they want to be.” Julianna Ignacio, the Overall head of the Elective Fair, saif. Ignacio captured the heart of the elective fair — expressing how we can be anything, just like Barbie, because the future is full of endless possibilities. The adventure is only just beginning, and this event was just the testament to that.
