Student leaders of St. Paul College Pasig (SPCP) attended the annual Homeroom Leadership Training on October 3, 2020 via Zoom. Entitled “SCOUT: Equipping for Adventure”, the event aimed to help leaders prepare for their roles and responsibilities throughout the year.

The officers were met by speakers that tackled topics relevant to their positions and were engaged in activities such as the energizer, breakout sessions, and the synthesis of insights from the event.

The plenary speaker, Ms. Aja Ellett, Director of the Habilin Movement, tackled leadership in an online environment. Given the current situation, Ellett emphasized on being adaptable, empathetic, and driven. She shared tips on becoming a competent leader and motivator, as well as the significance of rest in producing quality work.

For the second talk, the students disseminated to their first breakout session by position. Each of the talks was given by notable alumnae: Beatrice Berenguer talked about instilling open-mindedness and taking initiative for CFC; Patricia Ginete discussed the practice of organization for Academic chairmen; Justine Valdez focused on promoting harmony and fellowship for Spiritual chairmen; Mikaela Arriola talked about establishing unity for Socio-Cultural chairmen; Felicity Santos discussed project management for track representatives; and Noleen Fabian on advocacy-oriented development for organization representatives.

The students then dispersed to their final breakout session and were greeted by another set of alumnae: Angela Sioson on building confidence in leadership for the Neophytes; Nina Herrera on fostering camaraderie and effective communication for the Rookies; Alessandra Estrella on decision-making in leadership for the Freshmen; Alexandra Santelices on finding common ground for the Sophomores; Rein Gaspar on unity in disagreement for the Juniors; and Daniella Dimaguila on consistency in leadership for the Seniors.

“…It was quite challenging to organize an online leadership training but the [struggle] of it not being face-to-face allowed us to invite a multitude of speakers who provided very impactful insights to shape us as leaders,” says Student Coordinating Team President, Sam Apilado.

The officers obtained remarkable insights on leadership and developed better ways of serving the student body, as the community embarks on a new adventure in the virtual set-up.
