HUMSS Congress 2025: Moirai–Exploring the Interconnectedness of the Past, Present, and Future
By: Jolie Lim
Only through acknowledging the truths of the past can we live fully in the present, becoming the catalysts of the change that our future critically needs. Are you ready to watch the threads unravel?
Embark on a journey through time as the Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students present the annual HUMSS Congress entitled “MOIRAI: Weaving the Threads of Society.” It is set to take place on February 26, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the St. Paul Activity Center for Excellence (SPACE).
MOIRAI, a concept from ancient Greek religion and mythology, refers to the three Fates– the goddesses and personifications of destiny. Guided by such themes, not only are we bound to witness a call to urgency, but we will also be given the opportunity to immerse ourselves in various productive discourses and presentations with peers and knowledgeable individuals.
This year’s HUMSS Congress puts together the past, present, and future through a variety of engaging and insightful activities.
Plenary talks will encompass the concepts of time — grounded on history, social awareness, and the role of the youth in our society.
- Session 1 (Future): “The Future of the Philippines in the Hands of Today’s Youth” with Ms. Kaia Catacutan
- Session 2 (Past): “Behind the Curtains of the Marcos Era” with Dr. JC Punongbayan
- Session 3 (Present): “Relevance of the People Power Revolution in Current Society” with Atty. Luke Espiritu
Booth hopping activities would allow attendees to take a glimpse of the past with HUMSS 12’s previous works and projects. There will be expected venue rotations to witness HUMSS’ advocacy-based performances and presentations, inviting fruitful conversations in a creative manner. The threads of time suggest that you’re also bound to meet a fresh, unique melody with a special performance from the student band, Crazy.
While online registrations have come to a close, walk-ins are welcomed on the day of the event at no fees. Merchandise will also be available in a designated booth throughout the day.
The annual HUMSS Congress is beyond a project– it is a culmination of hard work and knowledge, an event that continues to define the essence of Paulinian HUMSS students as they create concrete ways to advocate for social awareness in the context of our country.
In this ever-changing world, let your voices and minds be empowered — conquer the ties of an attempt to rewrite history and unravel the start of a new tomorrow.
