Missed out on the annual visual arts week last school year? Fear not as you may once again seek out the cosmos and the stars with the Center of Visual Arts as they kickstart ASTERIA: Uncovering the Brightness Within from April 12 to April 18, 2021 — a week filled with visual festivities from merchandise selling to insightful talks.

Unlike past visual arts weeks hosted inside the school, ASTERIA will be celebrated in the comfort of the student’s home according to quarantine guidelines and safety protocols. However, one may still explore space and its heavenly bodies despite the virtual environment with the many events and programs the Center of Visual Arts has in store for the SPCP community, such as the recently launched EQUINOX and DAWN, an online exhibition of the myriad of celestial artworks Visual Arts students have created over the school year. This is to be followed by the most awaited merchandise selling entitled ATLAS, featuring the cosmic works of talented artists from the SPCP High School department. Pre-orders for all merchandise are open throughout the entire duration of the event, with a unique variation of tote bags and stickers to graphic t-shirts awaiting all Paulinians and outsiders.

Wish to go further into space? Worry not, as the Center for Visual Arts opens LUCIDA, an art contest open to all SPCP students with a prompt that elicits the astronomical creativity of all participants. A special prize awaits the final three winners. Furthermore, don’t remove your spacesuits just yet, as sign-ups for PARHELION open up for all Paulinians regardless of G.I.F.T. Center. PARHELION is the plenary talk session long-awaited by students, as it allows the audience to gain further knowledge of the art of their craft with the many insights the speakers, Nicolai Maybutin and Anina Rubio, will provide. The talk sessions will be live-streamed on the SPCP HS G.I.F.T. Facebook page, wherein the invited performers consisting of Aster, Paralelo, Maharlika, and Silakbo will have live-streamed performances showcasing the versatility of all art forms and crafts.

What are you all waiting for, astronomers? Head on to the following accounts to view the latest updates, guidelines, FAQs, and additional reminders regarding ASTERIA — HS Gift Facebook Page: facebook.com/SPCPHSGIFT and Center for Visual Arts Twitter Page: @SPCPVisualArts.
