Beyond The Looking Glass: Redefine Wonderland With ALITIA
By: Charmaine Buenafe
Sometimes, all one needs is to fall into a rabbit hole with no way of getting out.
In this year’s SPECTRUM, all eyes are on the runway as the Center For Visual Arts (CFVA) ensures that Wonderland gets a makeover with “ALITIA: The Fragments of Beauty.” Headed by Pat Arabit (CFVA Vice President and Fashion Design Student) and co-headed by Bea Bayani (CFVA President), the long-awaited fashion show is ready to entice the audiences with looks that draw inspiration from the film “Alice Through The Looking Glass” fused with fashion design concepts.
“We’re trying to build a Wonderland that people have never seen before. It really draws faraway from the usual enchanting Wonderland that you see. This time, we’re trying to send a message that not all Wonderlands have [their] own happy endings. Sometimes, it has its own craziness, it has its own madness,” said Arabit.
From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on January 24, students, parents, guests, and faculty members may expect whimsical grandeur to grace the ground floor of the St. Paul Activity Center for Excellence (SPACE). Alongside the reinvented collection, the audience may expect performances from some of SPCP’s flourishing bands — Aplianim, Hermosa, and the MaryJanes. Additionally, the stage will feature an artistic touch from the Visual Communications GIFT, who contributed their skills to the making of the event’s props and decorations.
Tickets for “ALITIA: The Fragments of Beauty” are almost sold out as this celebration of art and fashion is ready to drive their spectators away from the tad and more to the mad. Expect to see characters get molded to different versions of themselves as exquisite new garments, band performances, and creative set designs make their collective debut. Don’t miss the chance to fall in this rabbit hole of alluring madness and enchantment, only on January 24, 2025, at the SPACE!
